Trust Seeds
A long-time friend's father dies.
It was shared with me 10 days ago. It is today that I reach out.
Some seed was planted when I heard the news. It took 10 days for the seed to sprout.
A relatively short time in a lifespan.
A potentially long time when grieving.
As I trust the journey, there is no need to question my delayed response.
The reminder to allow life‘s pauses to appear unhurried unrushed.
The reminder to avoid the habit of immediately responding. Trusting that in the right time it will appear. Right response and right actions can flow through when I release what I have planned and see what the day invites. It is the practice of letting life come to us, letting life come to you, letting life come to me. It is a practice. An ongoing practice.
I don’t know what prompted my remembering 10 days later. I could have easily forgotten. And that, too, would have been okay …. if I can fall into the journey trust instead of moving to self-criticizing .
It is in the quiet pauses that seeds considering a sprout are watered. The pause, forced or welcomed, invites the consideration of sprouting or hibernating, each liberating the soul uniquely.
It is my selfish self that wishes to rush the seed to sprout and burst into the place above earth. To rush through life ‘pell-mell roly poly down the hill’ instead of taking it one roll at a time.
Human nature? Societal conditioning? Lack of awareness? A missed invitation to appear any other way?
My intention is to live life embracing invitations, willing to have messy conversations and to release plans for the moment. When a child reaches out, be it a two-year-old or a 35-year-old, I want to pause and welcome the invitation to plant the seed via conversation together that may sprout in the future. When a friend shares, I want to listen with both ears and an open heart, trusting the friendship as it continues to sprout. In the quiet moments of each day, I choose to sprinkle the breathe with a pause for it allows seeds to be planted and watered.
If you are looking for ways to plant and water the spiritual earth of your life, and curious to see what might be germinating, I’m here to support your exploration.
